12 months ago at Tech Day in New York City we introduced for the first time the concept of an “Ethernet Fabric” to help data center managers meet the demand for serve r virtualization as the stepping stone to a cloud services model for IT.  Today, one year later at Tech Day in San Jose we demonstrated that we have delivered on that promise and Ethernet Fabrics are ready for prime time and undergoing rapid adoption.

We knocked it out of the park today at our annual Tech Day.  Kudos to my peers in marketing and the product groups for putting on a helluva show.  The industry needs companies likeBrocade to take an honest and pragmatic view of the cloud and the data center architecture and network infrastructure needed to deliver on the promise.  Recent negative headlines from high profile cloud service providers should serve as a reminder of the perils of underestimating the requirements for performance, scalability and redundancy in the network. The launch today of our very cool advertising campaign in WSJ and other IT online and print media also provides a real boost for the sales team.  We have always preferred to let the products speak for themselves: innovation in areas of performance, power efficiency, density, and a truly open architecture are all things that have distinguished ourselves from our competitors for years. But today the industry is demanding a credible alternative to legacy, out-dated approaches to building data center infrastructure in order to meet their expectations for virtualizing IT without compromising security, performance or reliability.

Enter Brocade’s Ethernet Fabric; we are the only company delivering Ethernet Fabrics today.  While the technology may sound a little dry and “geeky” to some, our value proposition is resonating with people tasked with accelerating data center consolidation, virtualizing hundreds and even thousands of servers within data centers and across distance. I am convinced May 3, 2011 will go down as a key date in our history.  The day when Brocade moved ahead of the pack and demonstrated real leadership and innovation at a time when customers are desperate for a new, fresh approach building a cloud optimized data center.
