Brocade today announced intent to acquire Connectem to further extend our SDN and NFV leadership in New IP mobile network solutions. The addition of Connectem’s Virtual Core for Mobile (VCM) product and architectural innovations in the virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) to our virtual networking portfolio and demonstrates the continued focus on delivering scalable, efficient software networking solutions on industry standards x86 servers to customers.

As one of the leading innovators in the vEPC market, Connectem provides a highly differentiated solution for us, with unique architectural attributes leveraging cloud computing and network virtualization in ways that align with Brocade’s vision for the future of New IP mobile networks. In addition, Connectem’s technology will seamlessly integrate into our existing Ethernet Fabric, network analytics, SDN and NFV solutions, which include:

  • Brocade Vyatta vRouter: Virtualized routing, firewall, VPN and NAT
  • Vistapointe: Network visibility and analytics
  • Brocade Vyatta Controller: SDN Controller based on the OpenDaylight Project
  • SteelApp: Recently acquired virtual Application Delivery Controller (vADC).

In short, Connectem represents another step in our efforts to transform Brocade through organic and strategic investments.

Our rapid ascent in the SDN and NFV space is made possible through internal innovations, strategic investments and acquisitions. The entire team here at Brocade sees the opportunity that the New IP presents and we’ve built one of the best technology teams in the business. With Connectem, we take another step on that journey by increasing the ability and efficiency of our customers to deliver mobile solutions that support the Internet of Things (IoT), Machine to Machine (M2M), Industrial Internet and enterprise mobile data services.

Finally, we will work closely with our partners as the industry transitions to New IP. A strategic alliance ecosystem with a broad set of global technology and system integration partners is a core element of our go-to-market strategy, which is particularly important as we develop solutions for the emerging markets. The long history of Brocade’s success in building strong industry partnership will be a significant leverage as we bring highly differentiated solutions to our customers.

Upon deal close, the Connectem team will report to me as one of Brocade’s areas of emerging business. I am excited to welcome Connectem into the Brocade family and expect a seamless integration that will see collaboration take place immediately.
