2010 APac Partner Summit Draws Crowds

Last week, Brocade held its annual APac Partner Summit on the island of Bali, Indonesia. The event brought together Brocade channel partners from throughout Asia, New Zealand and Australia for several exciting days of vision sharing, learning and networking.  We also honored the achievements of top-performing partners, who were recognized during the Brocade Partner 2010 Award ceremony.

Partners came to the Summit to discuss the latest industry and business trends, share best practices and  talk about issues that are impacting them today. The topic of cloud computing and how partners can play a role was definitely top-of-mind, as was the evolution of business models driven by key technology trends. A major part of designing worldwide strategies and programs is to hear perspectives from APac-based partners - being able to design programs and tune a channel strategy that matches their needs and the markets in Asia, New Zealand and Australia is key to our success.


On top of that, we had a lot of fun - as always. Being in this extremely colorful country and having the opportunity to take part in local festivities from Bali-style dancing to hearing songs sung in over 10 different languages, it made for a great experience. We also broke up into country teams and competed against each through a variety of activities – with the victor being named the “best partner team in the world.” 


At the Summit last week, we introduced the APac version of the newly updated Alliance Partner Network (APN) Program to partners, along with the Professional Services Partner (PSP) and Support Delivery Partner (SDP) Programs and feedback was overwhelmingly positive. You may also recall that we announced therevamped APN program, which puts greater emphasis on driving partners towards increasing their skills in new technologies, here on October 27th. From the headlines that we’ve been seeing – “Brocade Systems raises the bar by erasing one,” “Brocade Moves Partner Program Toward Convergence, the Cloud and Specialization” and “Latest Brocade Updates Target Partner Specialization, Cisco” – I’d say that this change is being perceived as a positive move.


Partners also gave Brocade two-thumbs up in reaction to the updates to the APN program – key points of feedback include:

  • Brocade understands “Quality in Partnership”
  • Brocade’s philosophy of “pay for performance” = “Quid pro Quo” and demonstrates a true partnership
  • Directly addressing partner needs by enabling them to be the “architects of the future” for cloud computing, virtualization and convergence
  • Increasing emphasis on expertise, while being conscious of partner investments shows a vendor assumes responsibility
