This script is a different than SAN Health in that the user generates their own customized reports with a variety of filters. For example, if you want to see what servers will be affected by swapping out a storage array, you can generate a report with all servers in the same zone(s). There are canned reports, such as inventory reports. It’s also useful for initial triage when trouble shooting fabric issues. There is more detailed path reporting for mainframe environments.
This script does not create zone merge scripts, Excel fabric documentation, or Visio drawings that SAN Health generates.
The script is written in Perl. The output is HTML with Java for filtering. There is a function called after parsing the data is complete in the Perl script. This allows users to generate their own custom reports. There is some sample script to illustrate how to use the parsed data to call a customer written function that adds all part descriptions and serial numbers to an end users own database system.
