BNA misses NPIV Port messages.

I have switches with NPIV ports, i have BNA which monotors all my switches, but it missess the alert when a NPIV initirator is down.

Is this option omitted in BNA, or should i do some other configuration for it.

I am using BNA 12.1.0

Comments pls,

Thanks in advance

Re: BNA misses NPIV Port messages.

Hi,

What kind of alert do you expect to recieve? beause you have to bear in mind that when a NPIV initiatior goes down, it goes down in the NPIV device where it is connected to. I suppose that this device sends a LOGO to the switch and it will report something like the following:

2013/11/12-13:13:58, [SNMP-1008], 531, SLOT 4 | FID 128, INFO, SWITCH_A,  The last device change happened at : Wed Nov  12 13:13:51 2013

but no specific info about the NPIV initiator that went down.

Yup i got it; What we expect is there should be a message stating something like this;

"NPIV initiatio "PWWN" on port "s/p" is offline on fabric"

Why we expect the msg is we have many AGs & vitualized devices on our fabrics, which some time will become dificult for us to trace the host(VM) going down.

Re: BNA misses NPIV Port messages.

Hi,

I think that that is not an option, maybe if the AG were Brocade and managed by BNA.
