  • 1.  Why is Brocade reducing password security?

    Posted Jan 03, 2017 04:50 AM

    I just signed up for a Brocade account, and was presented with this message for the password field:

    "Must be between 6 and 15 characters. No special characters allowed."

    WTF!? There are no valid reasons to limit length to 15 or to limit the allowed characters.

    It's very alarming to see this from a company providing Internet-facing appliances where security it critical.

    @Peter Boughton

    Thanks for your question.  I agree 100%.    We did plan for new pw requirements to be built out for the new MyBrocade Customer Portal so my question to IT triggered a research ticket.    I should have a firm answer shortly.   Thanks again, we appreciate your patience.

    @Peter Boughton

    Allowing special characthers within the MyBrocade password was meant for delivery on the recently released New MyBrocade Portal but do to a multitude of legacy subsystems it was held until the new feature could be delivered at 100%.   This feature is scheduled for an upcoming release.   I'll keep an eye out and update this thread when I have confirmation.

    Thanks again for your post.
