why target port work in 4Gb ? when 4Gb and 8Gb hba connect to the same 8Gb storage port in switch.

We did a test in customer site, we used two server, one with a 4Gb hba and other server with a 8Gb hba port, the storage with 8Gb front end port.

1.server with 8Gb port zoned with storage port 3A(8Gb front end port), the throughout is 800M

2.server with 4Gb port zoned with storage port 3A(8Gb front end port), the throughout is 400M

3.server with 4Gb port and server with 8G zoned with storage port 3A (respective zone), the throughout is 400M

I wan't to know why the throughout is limited in 400M.

thanks for everyone.

Hi,

Where are you measuring that throughput? 'cause if the server HBA has a 4G HBA, you won't get more than 400M on that server.
