when i am trying to remove a zone member from a active zone getting a "invalid alias" error message.

when i am trying to remove a zone member from a active zone file, getting a "invalid alias" error message. any help.

 zone:  glgldvdb01_a_zone
                GLDVNBUMED02_a; glgldvdb01_a; USPDEV1S1_1C
 zone:  glgldvdb02_a_zone

the issue here is that the procedure you're using is wrong:

Command aliremove is used to remove a member from an alias, and not an alias from a zone.

 

in order to remove a member from an zone, you need to use command zoneremove instead of aliremove:

 

switch1> zoneremove "glgldvdb01_a_zone", "GLDVNBUMED02_a"
