what SID is reported by portcamshow xxx

portcamshow shows area xx , SID y and DID y values what is the sginificance os this SID.. I recently added a new zone for adding a new array to an existing used port and after a few hours i see the system admin complainig they lost all paths to storage. After the reboot the hp-ux system came up with controller number (in cxtytz that c) and they have to reimport the VGs with new paths.

its a DCX environment and i noticed that SID is changed when comparing with previous outputs i captured. I have no clue why my regular zone operations would make a SID change

Re: what SID is reported by portcamshow xxx

HPUX uses the target port Domain ID and Port ID in its hardware path.

When that changes the sysadmin will see new devices and has the NO_HW status on its old devices.

Adding a new zone, should not make a difference. Unless the original target port changes, ie moved to an new port/blade/virtual fabric/whatever.

Unable to tell if that happend in this case.

SID stands for source id      , entries with in Content Addressible Memory for a given port

DID stands for destination id  with in CAM for a given port

portcamshow displays port based filter CAM utilization
