Re: single mode and multimode fiber optic distance

Hello Franck,

I have attached a table for SW SFPs.

LW sfps have different classifications.

Common LW sfps are 4km 10km 25/30km depending on the speed and your switch type.

I hope this helps,

Andreas

Re: single mode and multimode fiber optic distance

You can get 80km LW 2 & 4Gbit/sec SFPs for brocade San switches. They are a lot more expensive depending on their bitrate and max possible distance; you'll probably only get about 70km on real dark fibre pair links due to the extra joins and other losses.

Other choices are using DWDM pairs to extend the bandwidth and distance.  THe local ports on the DWDM can all be normal SW types.

For Brocades you will still need to set the actual or longer distance (for extra buffer credits) on each of the affected the san switch ports to be used for the ISLs.

Re: single mode and multimode fiber optic distance

Please observe, for ISL's over 10km you'll need the extended fabric license,

This enables you to asign more bb-credits to your e-ports

Re: single mode and multimode fiber optic distance

Hello Franck,

I have attatched two Brocade documents for SFPs. You can find this document in this forum under documentation.

Check the chapter 17 for SFPs.

I hope this helps.

If you need further assist let me know.

The matrices do NOT indicate which SFP+ 10GE optics I can use in a Brocade 1020 CNA.  Any links or straight-up answers appreciated!

Re: single mode and multimode fiber optic distance

Hello Brett,

did you have checked this link:

http://www.brocade.com/products/all/transceivers/product-details/transceiver-modules/index.page?

I did not check it for SWL FCoE but LW are there.

Is your product OEMed?

If so it could be possible that you need other SFPs.

I hope this helps,

Andreas
