session based hardware enforcement vs frame based hardware enforcement

I have read the zoning best practices guide,  and I understand that session based hardware enforcement takes place when you have a zone that has both wwpn and D,P  members or when there are overlapping zones.  I  understand the frame based hardware enforcement is when all zone members in a zone configuration use wwpn or all zone members in a zone configuration use D,P,  or with zones using wwpn or D,P not being mixed and no overlapping zones.  What I am still fuzzy on is fundamentally how does the session vs frame based hardware enforcement actually work?  Can someone provide a little more on the inner workings?

Thanks

Re: session based hardware enforcement vs frame based hardware enforcement

Hi Jsg,

frame based enforcement is more secure then sesseion based.

On sesseion based enforcement only the Name Server restricts Plogis.

On frame based, asic controls each frame.
