I have two 32 port switches that are ISL'd together. I am not using trunking. Would 1 ISL become and upstream to he principal switch and the other a down stream? What if I were to add more ISL's. Would I have then multi upstream and downstream. Please advise.

Assuming you're asking about enabling trunking. You can have four ISLs become a single trunk, but they have to be in the same quad. Port 0-3, 4-7, 8-11, 12-15, etc., etc.Trunk work in both directions. One ISL is not used for upstream and the other for downstream.

Not 100% sure, but I believe that when not trunked, your ISL's will act in a sort of load balanced state. The traffic will utilize both ISL's one first and then the next, with no guarantee that any specific amount of traffic will go down one or the other.thanks
