portcfgspeed ax question

Hi,

I use FabOS 6.1.0h and with the portcfgspeed command there is a new option called "ax", which indicated auto negotiation with enhanced retries.

Nevertheless, I found no details about within the manuals.

Does anyone know exctly the difference between auto-negotiation (0) and the ax option?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Kind regards,

Chris

Re: portcfgspeed ax question

the option "ax" is a mixed as option "0" and "fixed speed" but check and set the Speed automatically as fixed when the correct speed was be found from the "portcfgspeed" command.

example: You have a capable Licensed 8 GB Brocade's 5100 with mixed SFP 4GB and 8GB.

The "ax" option check the Port's speed forward and backwards "+ retries", and configure maximum speed available.

switch:admin> portcfgspeed
Usage: portCfgSpeed PortNumber  Speed_Level
Speed_Level:    0  - Auto Negotiate (Hardware)
                1  - 1Gbps
                2  - 2Gbps
                4  - 4Gbps
                8  - 8Gbps
ax - Auto Negotiate (Hardware) + retries
                s  - Auto Negotiate (Software)
switch:admin>
ax Auto-sensing (hardware) mode. The port automatically
configures for maximum speed with enhanced
              retries.
Please note, 1 GB FC Protocols is only available with 4GB SFP.
1GB FC Protocols is not support by 8GB SFP.
