When you have to create a volume group from command line you should: 1) Check if maxvgs kernel parameter is big enough. 2) Search for a free and unused minor number. 3) Run mkdir /dev/vg... 4) Run mknod
... and then run vgcreate. Boring...
This script resume all previous 4 steps in one.
Just run mkvg, then vgcreate. Done.
This script informs you about maxvgs value, actual used minor numbers for vgs, searches for the next free minor number available, creates the /dev/vg... directory and runs mknod. Nice uh? Enjoy!
