linux hba adapter sw installer v2.3.0.5 fails on RHEL6

Is there a fix for this issue brcade FC 825 management installer 2305 fails on RHEL6 x86_64. The compat libs are all loaded as far as I know: I tried installing only the driver, not the GUI but got the same error message.

Re: linux hba adapter sw installer v2.3.0.5 fails on RHEL6

This issue also happens with v3.0.0 on RHEL6, 6.1 and 6.2 x86_64

The installer relies on 32bit libraries, the solution is to install the following extra packages:

libXext
libXext.i686
libXtst
libXtst.i686
libXi
libXi.i686
unzip

Also, if you have a minimal server install and want X forwarding to work (so that the gui installer will open), you'll also need this package:

xorg-x11-xinit

Hope this helps,

FYI, to debug the above error, you can run ldd against the .so file mentioned in the error, for example, this identifies the missing libraries (note the existing libraries are all 32bit, coming from /usr/lib):

# ldd /tmp/install.dir.19879/Linux/resource/jre/lib/i386/xawt/libmawt.so
    linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0x0072b000)
    libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x00149000)
    libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x00b17000)
    libawt.so => /tmp/install.dir.19879/Linux/resource/jre/lib/i386/xawt/../libawt.so (0x009dc000)
    libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x0069d000)
    libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x0041c000)
    libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x00c6f000)
    libXtst.so.6 => not found
    libXi.so.6 => not found
    libjava.so => /tmp/install.dir.19879/Linux/resource/jre/lib/i386/xawt/../libjava.so (0x00e1d000)
    libjvm.so => not found
    libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x00164000)
    /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x007d0000)
    libjvm.so => not found
    libxcb.so.1 => /usr/lib/libxcb.so.1 (0x00110000)
    libjvm.so => not found
    libverify.so => /tmp/install.dir.19879/Linux/resource/jre/lib/i386/xawt/../libverify.so (0x0012e000)
    libnsl.so.1 => /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0x002f4000)
    libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXau.so.6 (0x00c23000)
    libjvm.so => not found

The libjvm.so can be ignored since it is provided by the installer.

Re: linux hba adapter sw installer v2.3.0.5 fails on RHEL6

I tested this on RHEL6.2 x86_64 using brocade_adapter_software_installer_linux_v3-0-0-0.bin, and although the installer makes it through without throwing any errors, it doesn't appear to install properly.

For example, the hcmagent (started via /usr/bin/hcmagentservice) doesn't get installed.

thus, when I launch the HCM gui, it reports that it cannot connect to the agent.

I don't have a RHEL 6.0 or 6.1 server to test the installer, so I don't know if this is an issue with RHEL6.2, or all of the RHEL6.x's

I'm also wondering if there may be other 32bit libraries that aren't installed, or other dependency packages.

Re: linux hba adapter sw installer v2.3.0.5 fails on RHEL6

Ok, my bad, after installing the brocade_adapter_software_installer_linux_v3-0-0-0.bin I needed to follow up by installing the RHEL6u1 driver, brocade_driver_linux_rhel6u1_v3-0-0-0.tar.gz.

This installs the kmod rpms and successfully loads the bfa and bna modules:

lsmod | egrep "bfa|bna"
bna                  1709555  2
bfa                  2029643  84
scsi_transport_fc      52241  1 bfa

The network and FC both work without the Brocade packages in EL6.2, so it might be good to use the built in drivers and wait for the official Brocade driver package for 6.2.
