Zoning Changes when SAN switches are unmanageable from DCFM

Hello All,

I am managing SAN switches through DCFM and recently most of the switches are unreachable due to network problem. (However i can able to telnet the switches from outside DCFM server)

1) Can i perform any zoning changes from DCFM when the switches are in unreachable state?

2) If i do, will the principle switch replicate the new zone information to remaining switches in the fabric and will it be effective?

Thanks in advance,

Arun

Re: Zoning Changes when SAN switches are unmanageable from DCFM

As far as I know DCFM needs ethernet access to the seedswitch to perforrm zoning tasks.

If a single switch gets an zoning change with an cfgactivate then this update is distributed via FC to each SAN switch in the entire fabric.

In this case no ethernet connection is required.

I hope this helps,

You can also use WEB Tools directly to the master switch and do your zoning in that manner and it will populate to the edge switch as well.
