Re: What does it mean G-Port?

G-Port is generally not good. Most of the time a G-port means that something can be plugged in, but FLOGI did not occur either due to bad cable or bas HBA.

Re: What does it mean G-Port?

E-port for ISL

F-port for host or storage connection

U-port means unmanaaged or no-light

is my understanding correct?

Re: What does it mean G-Port?

probably this might come in handy. • G_Port. This displays if nothing is logged into the port and the port is configured to be a G_Port. # it can be configured as any port • F_Port. This displays if a device is logged into the port. # • E_Port. This displays if the port is connected to another switch's E_Port through an ISL. # • GX_Port. Valid only on loop devices, allows a port to operate as either a Fabric Loop Port, Fabric Port, or an Expansion Port. This displays if nothing is logged into the port and the port is configured to be a GX_Port. # • FX_Port. Valid only on loop devices. This setting restricts a port to operate as either a Fabric Loop Port or a Fabric Port
