Upgrade from EOS 9.8.0 to 9.9.6 - shows v 9.6 when Complete?

I recently attempted a firmware upgrade on a McDATA 4400 from 9.8.0 to 9.9.6. using EFCM basic.

The process completed successfully, however when I checked the firmware level again through EFCM Basic or command line, the version displayed was 09.06.02 4.

I checked the firmware package and downloaded 9.9.6 again just to be sure.

I then upgraded to 9.8.0 again to get back to the original level, then tried going to 9.9.6 with the same result.

Is there some sort of version display issue I'm not aware of? Is package named and filed incorrectly? Nothing seems to indicate there is an error of any kind, only that the firmware version displayed is 9.6 instead of 9.9.6.

Thanks,

Tedd

Tedd,

I just see you Threads from TWO Week Ago, sorry for a later answer.

Is the problem solved ?

When you see 9.6 in the Switch After upgrade, then you have a Release 9.6.x and not 9.9.6

Re: Upgrade from EOS 9.8.0 to 9.9.6 - shows v 9.6 when Complete?

Problem has not been solved, but is not an issue for the client any more, as they will be replacing the McDATA switches very soon.

I looked at the downloads for EOSc 9.9.6, and today it appears to be the same one I used to try the firmware upgrade - file name is eosc09.09.06.bin and is 37.5 MB (37,529,001 bytes) in size.

More information - Below is the config display before and after upgrade.

Before upgrade: Firmware Version:       09.08.01 2

After Upgrade:   Firmware Version:       09.06.02 4

Upgrade process using Element Manager runs with success.

Suggests to me that the firmware version in the above named file is really 9.6, or somehow the upgrade fails and the firmware reverts to the version it originally shipped with. Just guessing at this point.

Any thoughts?
