This course provides the technical and process information needed to design, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Brocade products in a FICON environment. Topics include IBM z Systems I/O concepts, FICON Express, FICON cascading, Brocade FICON, and Brocade Gen 5/Gen 6 hardware and software.

 

Course Objectives
After completing this course, learners should be able to:

  • Discuss the basics of Mainframe I/O and Protocol Intermix
  • Discuss Fibre Channel Protocol and Storage Networking
  • Identify the Brocade hardware and software products used in a FICON environment
  • Plan and design a FICON solution to include Brocade hardware and software products
  • Define the installation and configuration requirements of Brocade switches in a FICON environment
  • Describe how to manage Brocade switches in a FICON environment using Brocade Network Advisor
  • Describe how Brocade NPIV and Virtual Fabrics might be used in a FICON environment

Prerequisites

  • Brocade Associate SAN Administrator (BASA 200) WBT training or have equivalent knowledge
  • Brocade Professional SAN Administrator (BPSA 300) WBT training or have equivalent knowledge
