whenattempt to connect trought hyperterminal using a serial null modem cable
nothing shows up in the hypertemninal windows I would have expected to see some text as I see connecting to different systems (cisco MDS)with the same cable.I've changed cables with no success

just another comment. A null modem cable from Cisco had not worked in my environment.
My recommendation is to use the original Brocade cable.
I am not sure if Brocade changed the pin to pin mapping.
I hope this helps,

based on my experience the switches up to and including 4G used a 'straight' cable (with a detachable RJ-to-DB9 adaptor) generally referred to as 'Brocade cable'. Starting with 8G platforms the pinout was changed and the famous "blue console cable" from Cisco works well with those (didn't work with older Brocade models). Needless to say that 8G platforms ship with a new 'Brocade cable' which is different from the old one. I believe this is what confused some.
Hope this helps,
