Server reboots trigger port events?

Hello All,

I just wanted to confirm, when a server is rebooted that's attached to an FC switch, does it cause the port to go offline/online, and thus trigger  "Event: A fibre channel port changed its operational state"?

Thanks in advance.

If you want to disable this alarming, try no snmp-server enable traps link-down.

Re: Server reboots trigger port events?

Can you please explain which kind of trigger you get?

If you get a FabricWatch message you have to adjust your FabricWatch configuration and disable the notification (RASlog and SNMPtrap)

I hope this helps,

Andreas

Re: Server reboots trigger port events?

Well, it's a DCFM alert.  The Fabric Manager E-mail lists it as "Event: A fibre channel port changed it's operational state; Port 164 (a4) changed operational state to offline."  And then after the reboot it comes back online.

Along these lines, would anyone know if this type of alert can be modified to show the symbolic name associated with that port?

[ Edited ]

We are receiving these same events via email, however, we are in the opposite situation and would prefer not to receive these emails every time a server is rebooted.  Can you please detail how to turn this off?  We are not sure how to do this using Fabric Vision via MAPS.  Since this isn't violating a rule and is a product status event we are not sure what to disable.  We are using CMCNE 12.1.5

Example:

Connectrix Manager Converged Network Edition  E-mail Report - Product Status Event

Connectrix Manager Converged Network Edition Version: 12.1.5 Connectrix Manager Converged Network Edition Build: 5 Connectrix Manager Converged Network Edition Server Address: 10.x.x.x

Date: Wed Aug 12 12:28:21 EDT 2015

Event: Port 227 (8/35) changed its operational state to offline

Severity: Warning
