Server and SAN Switch at 130m distance

Hi,

I am going to connect my server to my 5100 SAN switch. The distance between my server and SAN Switch is about 130meters (multimode, OM3). May I know the standard SFP and buffer credits is enough for the connection? Or do I need additional equipment/license?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Server and SAN Switch at 130m distance

if the distance is 130 mt as you mention, you are in range and no extended license is required.

try follow, set the port in LE mode.

portcfglongdistance LE Set VC init 1

what happen ?

Re: Server and SAN Switch at 130m distance

Thanks. We are purchasing new equipment and no way to test it. If it is supported then we can procure the equipment.

Thanks again.

I understand you have problem with the buffer credit/config.

usually you have enough buffer credit and you should leave the value by default.

BTW, you are in wrong forum. Please post at next time question like this in correct Forum.

thank you.
