SAN Zoning Help

First, bare with me as I am a server guy not storage and am setting up my first SAN however I am not see the HBA WWNs when I try and setup the host mappings. Here are the pieces\config:

IBM DS3524 with dual controllers\FC daughter cards

Two IBM\Brocade 2498-B24 FC Switches

Single 8GB Dual Port HBA in each server (ServerA is ESXi 4.1 and ServerB is Server 2012 Hyper-V, MPIO enabled on both)

For cabling I have..

ControllerA Port3 > Port0 FC Switch1

ControllerA Port3 > Port0 FC Switch2

ControllerB Port5 > Port1 FC Switch1

ControllerB Port5 > Port1 FC Switch2

ServerA HBA Port1 > Port2 FC Switch1

ServerA HBA Port2 > Port2 FC Switch2

ServerB HBA Port1 > Port3 FC Switch1

ServerB HBA Port2 > Port3 FC Switch2

Zoning on Switch1..

Alias:

ControllerA Port3 (three members.. Port0 and two WWNs under that port)

ControllerB Port3 (three members.. Port1 and two WWNs under that port)

ServerA HBA Port1 (two members.. two WWNs)

ServerB HBA Port1 (two members.. two WWNs)

Zones:

ControllerA Port3 Zone that has ControllerA Port3 alias

ControllerB Port3 Zone that has ControllerB Port3 alias

ServerA HBA Port1 Zone that has ServerA HBA Port1 alias

ServerB HBA Port1 Zone that has ServerB HBA Port1 alias

Zone Config:

Single config called "COMPANY" that has all four zones

Zoning on Switch2..

Alias:

ControllerA Port5 (three members.. Port0 and two WWNs under that port)

ControllerB Port5 (three members.. Port1 and two WWNs under that port)

ServerA HBA Port2 (two members.. two WWNs)

ServerB HBA Port2 (two members.. two WWNs)

Zones:

ControllerA Port5 Zone that has ControllerA Port5 alias

ControllerB Port5 Zone that has ControllerB Port5 alias

ServerA HBA Port2 Zone that has ServerA HBA Port2 alias

ServerB HBA Port2 Zone that has ServerB HBA Port2 alias

Zone Config:

Single config called "COMPANY" that has all four zones

Does this seem right? Any suggestions?... Thanks!

Re: SAN Zoning Help

Not a problem.

So now,

1- Are you able to see the WWNs of storage and Server in the SAN switch?

IF Yes

Create Alias zoning as per the example below:

alicreate "ControllerA_Port3","WWPN"

alicreate "ServerA_HBA_ Port1","WWPN"

Create a zone as below

Zonecreate "ControllerA_Port3_ServerA_HBA_ Port1","ControllerA_Port3; ServerA_HBA_ Port1"

Follow the same for the other fabric

Hope you got it
