Problem - Sun accessing disks at EMC storage using Brocade 3800 switch

We have connected SUN E3500 with JNI FC64-1063 to Brocade 3800 switch. We have Fabric OS 3.1.1b. We are not able to assign any disks to any Sun machine in this switch. However no issue with AIX machine.

Re: Problem - Sun accessing disks at EMC storage using Brocade 3800 switch

We have a Brocade 3800 and a Xiotech disk array. Had no problems connecting our HP servers to same. However, our Sun boxes refused to see any space reserved for them on the array. Found it was the Sun supplied FC cards themselves. I recall, more specifically, the drivers were the issue. We replaced the Sun FC cards (Qlogic 2300) with generic Qlogic 2300's and all went well. Sounds like you may possibly have a similar condition.

We experimented the same problem with SUN and Windows machines with different switches and different disks.=> Now we never use supplied FC cards, we use Emulex cards => no more problems.

Are you using WWN zoning or just port zoning? Can you see anything from the EMC box? Are you using Veritas file system or something else? The only problem we had was failing over the SP's (or trespassing a LUN in EMC terms). We had to upgrade the QLogic driver and now it works fine.

EMC requires special drivers for the Sun HBAs to work.note: best bet would be following Trudi's advise and use Emulex cards - at our site we do this, too.
