Port addressing logical switch FC16-48

Hello,

 

Can someoane explain me pls, how to convert P_ID (adressing) to port number in a logical switch.

Hello,

 

PID format: xxyyzz (24 bits/3 Bytes)

 

xx = Domain ID (1 Byte)

yy = Area (1 Byte)

zz = ALPA (1 Byte)

Thx for you reply but What I would like to know is how we can from PORT_ID find port index within a LS swicth.


Prior LS it was possible fo instance:

 

Index Slot Port Address Media Speed State     Proto
===================================================
  0    1    0   1a0000   id    N4   Online      --> 1a: domain ID | 00 -> Port index
  1    1    1   1a0100   id    N4   Online     
  2    1    2   1a0200   id    N4   Online     

 

With LS is different;

Index Slot Port Address Media  Speed        State    Proto
============================================================

   0    1    0   1fffc0   id    N8   No_Light    FC  --> 1f: domain ID | ff --> ???
   1    1    1   1fff80   id    N8   No_Light    FC 
   2    1    2   1fff40   id    N8   No_Light    FC


Do you know how to convert?

Hi,

 

some further details are in FOS Admin Guide

And as notice the FOS 10-bit (default) logical switch, it middle byte starts at 0xfc, and then we have ALPA 0xc0, 0x80, 0x40, 0x00 since we use the upper 2 bit from Alpha. Notice the following from Admin Guide:

 

10-bit addressing mode provides the following features:

 

• A PID is dynamically allocated only when the port is first moved to a logical switch and thereafter it is persistently maintained.
• PIDs are assigned in each logical switch starting with 0xFFC0, and can go to 0x8000 in the case of 64-port blades.
.....
• Port index is not guaranteed to be equal to the port area ID.

 

If you move all your ports at the same time, then you do some base calculation.
