Network advisor 12.1.3 SNMP communication failed

[ Edited ]

Hi,

I have Network advisor 12.1.3 installed and discovered multiple 6520 Switches .

There is but one 6520 switch which throws an error Discovered: SNMP communication failed. SNMP credentials may be invalid.

SNMP configuration is similar among all switches. Strange that Only one switch reports an error. Any help or experiences is appreciated.

Switch where error is reported :

PRIV0:FID10:adm_user1> snmpconfig --show snmpv3
SNMP Informs = 0 (OFF)
SNMPv3 USM configuration:
User 1 (rw): snmpadmin1
Auth Protocol: noAuth
Priv Protocol: noPriv
User 2 (rw): snmpadmin2
Auth Protocol: noAuth
Priv Protocol: noPriv
User 3 (rw): snmpadmin3
Auth Protocol: noAuth
Priv Protocol: noPriv
User 4 (ro): snmpuser1
Auth Protocol: noAuth
Priv Protocol: noPriv
User 5 (ro): snmpuser2
Auth Protocol: noAuth
Priv Protocol: noPriv
User 6 (ro): admin
Auth Protocol: noAuth
Priv Protocol: noPriv
SNMPv3 Trap configuration:
Trap Entry 1: No trap recipient configured yet
Trap Entry 2: No trap recipient configured yet
Trap Entry 3: No trap recipient configured yet
Trap Entry 4: No trap recipient configured yet
Trap Entry 5: No trap recipient configured yet
Trap Entry 6: 10.251.0.24
Trap Port: 162
Trap User: admin
Trap recipient Severity level: 4

Other switch where it works :

PRIV1:FID11:adm_user1> snmpconfig --show snmpv3
SNMP Informs = 0 (OFF)
SNMPv3 USM configuration:
User 1 (rw): snmpadmin1
Auth Protocol: noAuth

Priv Protocol: noPriv
User 5 (ro): snmpuser2
Auth Protocol: noAuth
Priv Protocol: noPriv
User 6 (ro): admin
Auth Protocol: noAuth
Priv Protocol: noPriv
SNMPv3 Trap configuration:

Re: Network advisor 12.1.3 SNMP communication failed

Hi,

I used adm_user1 to discover the switch.

Re: Network advisor 12.1.3 SNMP communication failed

hi,

you also have to specify an SNMPv3 user during discovery. which one did you use there?

On the other hand, if you discovered it in AUTO, try change it to manual and use one of the predefined users in the discovery process.

Re: Network advisor 12.1.3 SNMP communication failed

Try to add the Network advisor server ip address in the access control list for SNMP on each switch.

I added with read only permission and all the errors gone away after few minutes
