Merge 8 Gb Blade SW (IBM 44X1920) with McData Spheron

Hi, a customer wants to connect his new Bladecenter with integraded 8 GB FC swtiches to his old McData Spheron switches. In the past I told every customer not to do this but now I (and the customer) will have to go through.

I now about the interop modes, but I never used them. Can someone tell me whats the right way?

Solution No.
BrocadeMcData
1NativeInterop
2InteropNative
3InteropInterop

If there are different Interop modes please tell me also which one i have to choose.

On Brocade-side I'm sure it will be FOS 6.3.x on McData I will ask for more Details.

Thanx!

Re: Merge 8 Gb Blade SW (IBM 44X1920) with McData Spheron

Hi,

did you thought about to run the blade center san switch in access gateway mode?

From the BCFD Nutshell documentation Brocade tells that AG is an option to connect Brocade 8Gbit to McData Switches.  I had never connect an old McData to Brocade.

But Access Gateway is a fine feature for blade center environments.

Best regards,

Andreas
