McData 4700 No Telnet or Web

One of my MCData 4700's that I took off the shelf for some reason will not respond to web or telnet requests.  I don't want to nvram erase because I am currently licensed for 32 ports and the previous admin didn't copy any of this information down.

I have console access and {P} SSP> available to me.

How can I reenable the web and/or telnet interface from this console?  I have found no documentation for the console interface and have ran out of ideas.

I also tried to locate a copy of EFCM Basic, however the CD that came with the switch is long gone and brocade support won't assist due to lack of a support contract.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

EDIT: or as another though, can I grab the current PFE Keys via this interface so I can nvram erase?

EFCM Basic or another version don't solve the problem.

Are your able to Ping the Switch ?

Yep, switch pings fine, still has a config, however the only interface I can get to is SSP via the console cable.

Sound good.

I've a couple of Free tools, which your can Backup the Switch Config.

But here the One Million Dollar Question:

This Tools work only with certain EOS Release.

What is the loaded Release ?

I'll upload the Tolls tomorrow and post Link here.

have a nice day.

Re: McData 4700 No Telnet or Web

It seems highly unlikely that both the CLI and the web server would have been disabled, but you can check their status like this:

{P} SSP>cli st 1
  CLI_PRIVATE Class Information ...
    _task_token              : 0x43706b0
<SNIP>
    _cli_enabled             : yes
    _task_priority           : normal
<SNIP>

{P} SSP>ews st 1

  EWS_SVR_PRIVATE Class Information ...

    _task_token              : 0x43a43c8

<SNIP>

    _ews_enabled             : yes

    _ssl_enabled             : no

    _task_priority           : normal

    _data_port               : 80

    _ssl_data_port           : 443

  <SNIP>

Assuming they're still enabled, you can reset them like so:

{P} SSP>ews cnfg 2

EWS _clean_up called

  The Embedded Web Server has been reset.

  The Command Line Interface has been reset.

Hope that helps.

Re: McData 4700 No Telnet or Web

Hi jamesc1,

the first thing to try whenever a McDATA switch has problems with management interfaces is a soft-reset which restarts management subsystem but doesn't impact switch operations.

To do that on 4700 press and hold the IML button for more than 3 but less than 10 seconds.

This might help a bit.

Logging in as redips..

{P} SSP>cli st 1
{P} SSP>ews st 1
{P} SSP>ews cnfg 2
{P} SSP>

Re: McData 4700 No Telnet or Web

Hmmm, could be.  Try simply typing the 'cli' and 'ews' commands by themselves first.  You may have to "register" the commands before running my previous examples:

{P} SSP>cli

{P} SSP>ews
