MAPS: How to remove the E-mail action from all rules, except one.

Hi there, SAN-techs.

I would need to disable/remove the E-mail action from all rules, except for the: Fabric - E-port down rule.

Is there a way to, for example, run a "mapsrule --config * -action raslog, snmp" command that removes the E-mail action of all existing rules?

I know that I can remove the E-mail action for the Policy itself, but I still want to be able to use that action for some rules.

The only solution that I can find out, is to manually remove the action from each rule.... and there´s a bunch of

them.

Any ideas are welcome.

try with

->mapsconfig --emailcfg -address none

and the operand for the rule you want to be removed. should work.

Re: MAPS: How to remove the E-mail action from all rules, except one.

Thanks for quick answer.

I was hoping to find a way to remove the E-mail action with a single command for all rules, eg using the * in the cmd line,

instead of having to edit every single rule.

With the

->mapsconfig --emailcfg -address none

I will remove the addresses, if I´m not mistaken, and I want to enable mailing, but only for one rule.

Ulf,

yes, you are correct.

->.....and I want to enable mailing, but only for one rule.

I think in you case is more indicated to try to stop notification from the rule you don't want to get alert messaging.

let me see if I can find any Information about how to do that.

Antonio,

->I think in you case is more indicated to try to stop notification from the rule you don't want to get alert messaging.

Yes, but I only want to stop the E-mail action of the alert messaging for several rules. I want the other alert methods

to remain (SNMP, RAS log).

It is just a matter of me being lazy and not wanting to change about 180 rules separately, so don´t put too much

of your efforts in it.

Hi Ulf,

there is no other way to disable email except of one.

You can only disable email globaly or per rule.

So you have to go in each rule to disable mail except of one.

In case BNA is available. For those bigger changes I always use the export/import function of the BNA and then use vim/sed/whatever to do make the change in the exported .xml file

Or without BNA configupload - edit - configdownload
