Is a reboot required after ports settings changed?

Is a server reboot, device powercycle or port reset required if a port's settings are changed to 2gb from autonegiate???

Re: Is a reboot required after ports settings changed?

My rule of thumb is to do a portdisable followed by a portenable when changing port speeds. I either force each port to 4Gbps first and see if the host comes up (if I don't know if it's a 2Gbps or 4Gbps HBA), or set it to AutoNegotiate, let it come up and tell me what speed it is, and then force the speed.
