How to find port group in Brocade 5300 8G SAN switch ?

Hello,

I have a new Broade 5300 SAN switch. I need 12 ports to conect to the storage array. I would like to spread these connection across all available ASIC (port group). May I know, which are the ports to be used ?

Thanks,

Sreekanth.

Re: How to find port group in Brocade 5300 8G SAN switch ?

Hi,

This switch has 9 ASICs (layout available in this post

Out of these 9 ASICs, only 5 of them controls 16 User port (2 port groups) distributed in the following fashion:

ASIC 0:

 - 32-39

 - 40-47

ASIC 1:

 - 48-55

 - 56-63

ASIC 2:

 - 64-71

 - 72-79

ASICs 3, 4, 5 and 6 only contain internal backend ports.

ASIC 7

 - 0-7

 - 8-15

ASIC 8:

 - 16-23

 - 24-31

Rgds,

Felipon

PS:Useful FOS commands are "bladeportmap" and "portbuffershow"

"porttrunkarea --show all"  will display the port groups.
