Gbics supportability

Hi all ,

 

I have two switches FC Dell 8GB legacy .... now i will buy two new Brocade Switches 16GB HPE , my question is ... can i use my Gbics DELL  8GB in my new Switches HPE 16GB ? Is supported the gbic 8GB Dell in Switches FC Brocade 16GB HPE ?

I heard that HP used to have some proprietary SFPs that are not supported by any other Brocade switches. But I never heard the opposite. So I hope your older SFPs will normally power up in your new switches. Good luck.

i know some 8Gb FC switch support 4G/2G SFP rate, but i can not sure if the 16G can also support. Can you share your conclusion if test ?

yes, a 16G FC switch can also support 2G and 4G with the right (8G for example).
