FOS upgrade on deparmental size switches???

I have some 5420s and 4100s and want to know if I can non-disruptively upgrade their FOS from 6.3.2 to 6.4.1?   I have read that this is possible but I am still leary as I thought the smaller class switches didn't have the same redundancy as some larger switches, for instance 48000s.  Thanks,

oliver,

4100 is non-disruptive, and 5420 should be the same.

Re: FOS upgrade on deparmental size switches???

Hi oliverq,

Departamental switchs do not have the same redundancy than Directors since they do not have two CPs, but as long as upgrades is concerned, TechHelp24 is right. Departamental switchs have two partitions where FOS is installed

SW01:admin> firmwareshow

Appl     Primary/Secondary Versions

------------------------------------------

FOS      v5.3.2c

         v5.3.2c

During the upgrade process, firstly the secondary partition is upgraded, then a HAREBOOT is performed and then the former primary partition is upgraded. Everything without traffic disruption (at least in theory, I always recommend to do it in a low activity window just in case...)

Is FOS 6.3.2 compatible with 4020s?
