FOS Upgrade Path

[ Edited ]

Need to upgrade two DCX-8510-8B FC switches from FOS 7.0.0.C to FOS 7.2.1.D (EMC's recommended target release). Is this the suggested upgrade path:

7.0.0.C -> 7.0.2.E -> 7.1.1.C -> 7.2.1.D

Thanks in advance!

Re: FOS Upgrade Path

sunking,

if you have support from EMC, and they suggest to used this Release, you should follow the consideration from EMC.

here the offilcial Brocade FOS Target Path, is the same as suggested from EMC

Re: FOS Upgrade Path

Antonio,

Thank you for the response. FOS version 7.2.1.D is the suggested target version based on the EMC documentation. What I was wondering was if the upgrade path that I documented was the correct path to get from 7.0.0.C to 7.2.1.D.

Thank you in advance!

Re: FOS Upgrade Path

-->>FOS version 7.2.1.D is the suggested target version based on the EMC documentation......

latest FOS Rel. for DCX-8510 is 7.4.1b, and will be continued support by next upcoming FOS Release.

Just to clearify, Target Path mean, you have to upgrade in more step as descripted.

direct Upgrade in example from 7.0.x to 7.2 is not supported.

is probable the EMC DOC is a bit old, and at this time FOS 7.4 was not available.??

I don't know that DOC you mention

Re: FOS Upgrade Path

Antonio,

Thanks again for the response. I understand that I cannot go directly from 7.0.0.C to 7.2.1.D. What upgrades do I need to do to go from 7.0.0.C to 7.2.1.D?

Looking at the document that you referenced earlier it looks like I need to perform the upgrades as follows:

7.0.0.C -> 7.0.2.E -> 7.1.1.C ->7.2.1.D

Is this the correct path to get from 7.0.0.C to 7.2.1.D?

If I wanted to get from 7.0.0.C to 7.7.X.X what would the path look like?

The EMC document was updated as recently at 03.23.2016 so 7.2.1.D appears to be the EMC suggested version.

Thanks in advance!

Re: FOS Upgrade Path

this path is OK!

7.0.0.C -> 7.0.2.E -> 7.1.1.C ->7.2.1.D

however is not clear to me, ....document was updated as recently at 03.23.2016....

why EMC should not support newer FOS release.

refer this doc to any specific storage or environments ?

Re: FOS Upgrade Path

Antonio,

Thanks for the response. Not sure why EMC is not supporting the later versions of FOS. The document is broken into sections for each of their supported platforms. Connectrix/DCX is a section of it's own. It does qualify some of the target levels if you are running FICONN vs. FC or encryption but the generic FC target release is 7.2.1.D.

Thanks again for your help!

sun,

->Not sure why EMC is not supporting the later versions of FOS.

99,999% is a error in the DOC, or EMC refer in this DOC/release some other things.

can you please upload this PDF here ?

in feew word, you can safely do the next upgrade step ->7.3 ->7.4 if you have access, both FOS are supported and qualified by EMC.

Re: FOS Upgrade Path

Hi,

As Antonio estated, EMC supports both 7.3 and 7.4 releases, so there is no problem in upgrading to one of them. But, as of today, the version EMC recommends to upgrade to is 7.2.1d, which is considered the Target version.
