FC8-32 not recognized in a DCX-4S

Anyone know why this blade would not be picked up in a DCX-4S?

i recently tried to do this and just got an amber light on the blade.

I did notice the part number was different from the blades already in the switch:

60-1000412-12 came with the DCX-4S when purchased (from EMC)

60-1000412-08 i tried to move from a 48000, but would not work

a slotShow didn't show anything in the slot (2) when i attempted to do this.

TIA

what of FOS release is loaded in DCX ?

can you post here "errorshow" log  and "slotshow" output when the blade is inserted in DCX ?

Re: FC8-32 not recognized in a DCX-4S

FOS is 6.4.1a

i cannot easily move the blade back to the DCX, since it is in production on the 48000.

the DOM of the blade is September of 2007

Re: FC8-32 not recognized in a DCX-4S

the only one idea what i have is follow:

Port Blade have  a Proom - On-Board, this Prom allow during "firmwaredownload" process to upgrade Switch and Blade.

I think you have made any upgrade as the Blade was inserted in Different Chassis and this is the reason the DCX cannot recognized the Blade.

try again "firmwaredownload" with the same release and see what happened.

i have both the 48000 and the dcx at the same level, does the upgrade process load blade firmware based on the hardware platform?

Is probable, that "firmwaredownload" process use some mechanism by Upgrade.

Production Date is really a bit Old, i would ask by EMC or Brocade.

I know such problem from a Fist Chjassis Series Brocade 12000, here was diverse CP and Port Blade with different Part Number available, and this caused Compatibility Problem with FOS Release.

Re: FC8-32 not recognized in a DCX-4S

That is surely a Elegant Solution, but not the goal of Compatibility.
