Enable Port

Hello,

 

 when i use switchshow in brocade 6510

I use portenable 0, but state no change, so how enable this port?

 

I use licenseport --show

When i use Webtool and put in Port admin

 

Available license SFP:24     Total license SFP:24

 

but when use example port 0 and use "action" the option Enable/Disable; only show disable.

show as the switch is not Full Licensed, and DPOD = Dynamic Port on Demand is enable.

Hello,

and thanks for your reply, sorry but i dont understand, when i buy the switch the provider tell me the switch have 24 port license, and when enter for webtool in port admin section, say avaible license sfp 24, total license 24sfp, if i select port 0 until 23 say speed 32gb and more info, is not the case when i select port 24 or higher they have not info.

 

So if license is default, how enable this 24 port? i use portenable and not change.

The switch have bundle license : Extended Fabric, trunking license and fabric vision.

So, you have a dynamic POD with 24 ports. For switches (non blade switches) - the following applies

 

... the dynamic assignment occurs when an attached Fibre Channel link transitions to the

"link active" state.

 

The Dynamic POD feature assigns the ports to the POD license as they come online. Typically,

assignments are sequential, starting with the lowest port number. However, variations in the

equipment attached to the ports can cause the ports to take different amounts of time to come online.

This means that the port assignment order is not guaranteed....

 

So, once a port come online, the licenses are used. Of course, you can reserve a license for port, say 13

 

switch:admin> licenseport --reserve 13

 

And you can also return it (releas it) by

 

switch:admin> portdisable 13

switch:admin> licenseport --release 13
