Default Zoning Behavior SAN Switches

Hey

 

Sorry to disturb you guys…. Just a short silly question.

 

If my default zoning action is “Allow all access” but I enable a Zoning Set the default access is overwritten with the zoning set even if there is still Default Mode “access all”. Am I right or wrong?

The default mode will only matter if you do not have an effective configuration enabled.  If you have enabled a config, then access is deteremined by your zones in the config.  However, it is still best practice to set your default mode to No Access, even if you have a zone config in effect.

 

In addition, whatever you are zoning to should have its own access rights that prevent any unintended access.
