Does anybody know if its possible to reverse the airflow direction on the DCX blowers?

Is not possible.

We encountered same issue in our data center as its only allowed font-to-back cooling. The only workaround solution is to reverse the DCX switch inside the rack.
You have to power down the switch, unplug all cable connections, remove the switch from rack and install the switch the directions of air as per your data center requirement.

Is this the same for the DCX 8510-8?

Not sure with DCX 8510-8. But if this equipment will fit on 19" EIA standard rack, and its a front to back cooling then you can manage it by rotating the equipment or the whole rack.
In our case is a DCX-4 series on a wide rack. You have to consider the gap between the rack door and the equipment(cable side) before rotating.

DCX and DCX-8510 use same Chassis.
the differ only by Speed Port Blade and Core Blade
Legacy DCX is 8G and DCX-8510 is 16G Plattform.

OK, thanks for the clarification.
Is it possible to order it with the direction you want?

--->>> Is it possible to order it with the direction you want?
what they mean by "with the direction" ?
04-02-2012 11:18 PM
I mean: Is it possible to order the DCX with a special option and get the airflow direction the customer want? (The non-default back-to-front)

This is not a special option.
You need just to insert the DCX or another Switch in reverse mode inside the Rack as mentioned in the preview post by gilbert.sagun.
