Converting port zone to WWN zone in a redundant production enviroment?

I am looking for procedures on transitioning from port zoning to WWN zoning.

Does it hurt to have port and wwn zone for the same server to storage box then delete the port zone?

Hi,

According to me, it doesn't hurt when you use mixed zoning... There are different ways to do so...

1. You can make a whole new zone config and define your new aliases and zones in this one. After completing the configuration, you can save and enable the new config...

2. You can add the wwns of the server to the alias. After that, you remove the switch port from the alias. Save and enable config.

3. You can make new aliases, add them to the zones, and remove the old aliases.

No doubt it will work.

Take the downtime and do it completely new one. otherwise you can keep it as mixed zoning , but better is take the downtime and do a compltete new configuration
