Connecting MCDATA ES 3032 with Cisco MDS 9216i

Hi

I have connected cisco mds with mcdata 3032 in interop mode 4. But, the link is down Isolation due to ELP failure. On mcdata, I have configured port as G and switch in MCDATA Fabric interop mode.

I do see on event log Code 81 WITH FOLLOWING DATA 0000 0000 0700 0000 203C 0800 881A 96C1. Invalid attachment. i have same Timers on both side of link.

R_A_TOV : 100

E_D_TOV: 20

Any help would be great to fix this link.

cheers

Thanks for link, I followed this link, managed to get brocade working with cisco but not Mcdata. Cisco side config is fine , any other thoughts on mcdata side?

Cheers

Re: Connecting MCDATA ES 3032 with Cisco MDS 9216i

What is the output of command show port status in the Mcdata? There should be an 'Reason' for the Invalid Attachment error.

Bear in mind, that for connecting a Cisco with a Mcdata switch, several operatives need to be performed in addition to setting a vsan with interop mode 4. You need to do the following:

- Suspend the VSAN used for the merge.

- Add the desired ports.

- configure the ISL port as an e-port.

- Modify the VSAN wwn, so that is McData compliant.

- enable the vsan afterwards.

- enable the e-port connected to the mcdata.

with these steps, the two switchs should merge.
