Connecting Lenovo Flex module Brocade FC5022 and QLogic 4 Gb SAN Switch Modules for IBM BladeCenter

Hello,

we are migrating our old IBM BladeCenter to a new Lenovo Flex System but we have a lot of problem when trying to connect the Fibre Channel Switches together.

On our old hardware we have :

- QLogic 4 Gb SAN Switch Modules for IBM BladeCenter with firmware 5.5.2.10.0

And on the new one we have :

- IBM Flex System FC5022 16Gb SAN Scalable Switches which is a brocade switch with 7.4.0b firmware

As far as I know the 2 firmwares are the latest for this hardware even if the QLogic firmware is very old.

We are trying to establish an ISL link (E-Port) between the 2 switches without success. I read a lot about "interop mode" but it seems that brocade no longuer use it since the release of 7.x firmware (http://community.brocade.com/t5/User-Contributed/How-To-Configure-Interoperability-in-Mixed-Fabric-with-Brocade/ta-p/36382).

On the QLogic side the only "interop mode" available is "Interop_1".

I also read about "Transparent routing" for the brocade side but I don't know where and how to activate it... (http://community.brocade.com/t5/User-Contributed/How-To-Interoperability-in-a-mixed-Fabric-Brocade-FabricOS-to/ta-p/36820?r2= and http://community.brocade.com/t5/Fibre-Channel-SAN/200E-and-QLogic-8GB-20-port-IBM-BladeCentre-switch-module/td-p/32498)

There is also an interessant guide there which gave me some hints but without success : http://filedownloads.qlogic.com/files/manual/9046/SN0135524-00A.pdf

Well, can somebody tell me how can I manage to make a Fabrik with my 2 types of switches ? I really need to connect them together in order to be able to migrate all my VM with the less downtime possible... If possible, a step by step guide would be very appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any help and best regards.

Old QLOGIC Blade and/or Standalone switches, cannot be connect/ISL with the 5022, since Interop-Mode is not longer supported.

additional, the QLOGIC Interop Guide you post here the URL,  is 12+ years old and this procedure cannot be applied with NEW Plattforms generation.

Trasparent Routing is Supported only in newest QLOGIC Switches with FW 8.xx and higher.

EXACT!

Alternative would be with another switch with Integrated Routing, but to be honest I'm not sure if this support such old QLOGIC Blade.

If the FC50220 support IR, I can provide for IR Temporary License, please by Lenovo if the features is supported and le me know.
