Brocade SW300 connect IBM Flex system FC3171 SAN switch issue

Hi All,

I have a Brocade 300 san switch have to connect to IBM Flex system FC3171 san switch . After connect fiber cable, in brocade end the port show [G port] status. In IBM end the port show [offline]. I connect storage to IBM san switch directly, it ok . so i think all san switch is work fine.

In brocade san swithc i get some warning like: [port 1: ILS ELP bad size 144, wanted 164.]

Brocade switch license info :

admin> licenseshow
GZPYg4axxxxxxxxxxxxxxrN3mtBJfQE:
Enhanced Group Management license
mBfEND7YxxxxxxxxxxxxxxHCA3BXgHWBAXMD:
8 Gig FC license
WHWQmT7xxxxxxxxxxxxxAXWmB3DWJB7NGH:
First Ports on Demand license - additional 8 port upgrade license

Is it license issue or brocade 300 did not support to connect IBM san switch or some issue esle?

Pls help me !!

Re: Brocade SW300 connect IBM Flex system FC3171 SAN switch issue

dean,

the FC3171 is Qlogic Based Switch/ Pass-thru Blade.

I'm not familiarly with this Blade, but I think in order to ISL and/or build a fabric with Brocade, the FC3171 must be set in NPIV Mode and not in Full Fabric-Mode.

if you can point me to some DOC, user guide,  command line guide, etc..  i'll try to help you to config out.

[ Edited ]

Dean,

Finally I found IBM Redbooks sg247984-04.

I assume you want to connect the Storage to the Brocade 300, and ISL the IBM Flex FC3171 to Brocade 300.

in such case, the FC3171 must be set as Pass-Thru
