Brocade FC switch - OEMed/retailed with changed firmware ?

Hi,

I have heard that some Brocade switches which are OEMed/retailed by other companies have their own firmware. Is that true ?

If so which of them (IBM ? DELL ? others ?)

Regards

NO!

But some Switches are Certified only by some OEM, for certain Fabric OS Release.

So if we buy Brocade 5100 from e.g. DELL can we upgrade firmware or it has to be done by DELL engineers ?

You should use the FOS from your vendor mostly because of the support contract (if you still have a support contract with Dell).

I hear that vendor do not modify the FOS coming from Brocade

In my past experience I did used once the FOS coming from Brocade, the reason was that the third level support of my vendor (HP) could not found the issue on our HP StorageWorks Data Center core switches.

HP transferred the call over Brocade and then for a time we had the FOS of Brocade for troubleshooting process. Since then we upgraded the FOS that came from our vendor. Hope this will help
