Brocade 7840 initial setup

Good afternoon, I have setup a pair of 7840 switches and they are now 'talking' over an IP network. I am now trying t get my storage devices at either end logged into the switches so that I can zone them to see each other. However, having cabled the storage devices they will not log into the switch. Port status is showing as Offline, In_sync

Should the storage devices not automatically log into the switch, and show in name server. Or do I need to do sometheing else first to create a fabric ?

Kind Regards,

Berd

Is this a FCIP Tunnel ?

Re: Brocade 7840 initial setup

Hi Antonio,

Yes, I have setup a FCIP tunnel and then created two circuits within the tunnel. I could see the switch setup was good as a fabricshow would show both switches.

I have resolved the issue, it was being caused by the replication ports on the storage devices requiring initialistion. My setup was all good. So once initialised, they logged into the fabric and I was able to zone.

Cheers,

HErd
