We are Planning to Firmware Upgrade for firsttime on Brocade 5300 and 5470 models.
We have 2 Brocade 5300 Principal switches
And 4 Brocade 5470 Subordinate switches
Brocade 5300 Current Version FOS : 6.4.2a
Brocade 5470 Current Version FOS : 6.4.2b4
Target version for both models is FOS : 7.4.1c
We have Opensystem Environment which comprises of Windows, AIX, VMWare Servers.
Please help me with Target path and number of hop counts in between the paths.
What will be the best recommended upgradation process? Will it be disruptive or non-disruptive?
I got many paths but am confused what is the best target path and non-disruptive ones?

upgrade to one of follow:
then for non-disruptive Upgrade
and finally to
however I would suggest instead the 7.4.1c to Upgrade to latest Rel. v7.4.2

As per you there are 5 hop counts in both target paths. So, Is every hop count is non-disruptive ?
I mean to ask the entire target path which mentioned is Non disruptive for both switches or not?
Shall i conclude this as Finalized Target Path?

you can skip the v6.4.3d/e/f/g step as you are already above 6.4.1a.
From e.g. 7.0.2e RN:
"Upgrading any 8G platform operating at FOS v6.4.1a or later to FOS v7.0.2e is non-disruptive to FC traffic."
The path is the same for both switch types and it is non-disruptive.
To my knowledge the 5470 is only supported up to 7.1.2b by the bladecenter vendor. Technically its possible to upgrade to 7.4.x but you could double check on that with them.
And I agree, the latest version should be used if there is no specific reason for FOS 7.4.1c. I would also always use the latest version in each code stream as jumpversion to a higher FOS.
