Brocade 300 cannot connect dx410 with bx900

Hi,

We have Eternus DX410 storage and Fujitsu Bx900 Blade. They are connected directly and blades are using the storage. However I could not connect them using Brocade 300 between them. I added all ports to a zone and activated. Also added the WWNs of Brocade 300s to zone of the Brocade switch on the Blade.

Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

Re: Brocade 300 cannot connect dx410 with bx900

Hi, is our san looking like this:

BX900 <-> BRC 300 <-> DX410

How your BRC5450 (BX900 internal san switch) ist configured (Access Gateway Mode or normal)?!

Did you check if BX900 internal BRC5450 switch have merged with BRC 300 to one fabric?!

Could you say more detail about our san (number of bx900, brc300 etc.), please?!

Re: Brocade 300 cannot connect dx410 with bx900

Thank you for your interest.

BX900 <-> BRC 300 <-> DX410 is true but there are two BRC 300 switch between them.

I do not know the difference between Access Gateway Mode and Normal that you said. But AD0 writes on the top of the configuration page and I created one alias with all ports inside, one zone and one zone config in both of the Brocade switch of the blade. I also do not know merging the both switches to one fabric (I have lost myself in documents, I will be glad if you can send easy one).

Thank you again.

Hi emmungil,

whether you don't know the difference between Access Gateway and Normal mode, have a look at this thread :

Very good and synthetic explanations.

Hope this helps

Kind Regards,

Re: Brocade 300 cannot connect dx410 with bx900

Ok,

how did you cable your equipment?!

How many ports do you have in our DX410 and how many bx900 do you want to share this storage?!

Where did you create alias and zones?!

e.g. for one DX410 with two CM each one CA with two Ports (0,1):

Fabric 1:

BX900 switch (a) Port 0 <-> BRC 300 (b) <-> DX410

Fabric 2:

BX900 switch (c) Port 0 <-> BRC 300 (d) <-> DX410

If you use your BX900 in Access Gateway Mode then you habe to assign each Blade to a specific production and backup port on their 5450. If you use it normal then you have to merge your 5450 and your 300 to one fabric. The connection between these two switches are then InterSwitchLinks. Did you have trunking licences?!

SAN prinzipals:

- use single intiator alias

- use wwn based zoning

- use single initiator zoning (one hba port, one or multiple storage ports)

- connect both cm of the dx to both switches (like cm0,ca0,port0 to switch1/ cm0,ca0,port1 to switch2)

- zone each blade hba to ports on both sp on one fabric
