BRC 5100 - 1Gbit HBA

Hi,

we are redesigning a site and now there`s a question about 5100 switches. Is it possible to connect a 1Gbit HBA to a 8Gbit switch port or does it have to be minimum a 2Gbit HBA?!

Regards,

Andreas

Re: BRC 5100 - 1Gbit HBA

Andreas,

According to the data sheet for the 5100, it supports 1, 2, 4 and 8 Gbs port speeds, including auto-negotiation.

Cheers,

You need in order to Connect 1G Device such HBA / Array etc., 4G SFP, because 8G SFP can only work for 8, 4, and 2G Devices.

abba-systems is right, you need a 4GB SFP because the SFP+ only supports 2,4,8 GB speed. Check your SFPs with the "sfpshow" command.
