3900 losing network admin port after upgrade

Hello,

I upgraded my spare 3900 to 5.3.0d and all was well.  I was able to connect to the GUI, etc.  A few hours later I tried again and my browser window froze during the GUI load.  At that point I was unable to ping the unit.  I used serial terminal to issue a reboot.  This reset the network connection, but everytime I try to access the GUI now it locks up the network port before loading.  I have tried using different PC's to access the GUI, but get the same behavior on the 3900 (losing the network connection).  Any ideas?  Thank you.

Re: 3900 losing network admin port after upgrade

Yes, I can login from the console or via a ssh session and issue commands there no problem.  Only when I attempt to use the GUI does the network connection hang.  I upgraded from 4.4.0 to 5.0.5c to 5.2.1b to 5.3.0d, one after another before stopping to test out the results.

It means you are ok with your CLI. If you ar eok with your CLI, then you have check the java version for webtools GUI.Are you a UNIX expert, then CLI is too goo dman. go for CLI.

Re: 3900 losing network admin port after upgrade

Before posting here, I had attempted to re-apply the firmware in hopes that might clear up the issue (as show in the log).

Re: 3900 losing network admin port after upgrade

the output see ok.

that show to me the problem is caused by the LAN.

Check please follow, in IE, start ->Tools-> Internet Option -> in LAN Settings uncheck all check Box.

If you use a Firewall making sure the Switch IP is not  behind the FW

set temporarely of Disable a FW in you PC, test now.

let me know

Yea.. agreed with hemant. I have encounter the similar problem before.. and after upgrade the Java version then it works fine. You may check your Java version if it required higher version to support.

Re: 3900 losing network admin port after upgrade

I would try to go to Control Panel -> Java -> Temporary Internet Files (Settings...) -> Delete Files...

That would clear the Java cache for the applets.

Hope it helps =)

Re: 3900 losing network admin port after upgrade

My internet connection / proxy boxes are all clear.  I tried clearing the Jave temp cache.  No change in the behavior.  I lose the network connection (including pinging) whenever I try to invoke the GUI.  I'm not sure if I understand the comments on upgrade the Java version - is this on the brocade or on my PC?  Thanks for all of your suggestions so far.

Additionally - my other 3900; which I also upgraded using the same process and files has no issues using the same PC to access the GUI, etc.
