Webinar: The Performance Benefits of Fibre Channel Compared to iSCSI for All-Flash Storage Arrays
Recorded on: 10/30/18
Presented by: Marcus Thordal, AJ Casamento - Broadcom, Storage Networking
Length: 60 minutes
Topic: Organizations may invest in All-Flash Arrays (AFA) to meet the need for greater performance to support ‘as-a-service’ delivery models and business intelligence initiatives. But not everyone realize that AFAs can only be as good as the network fabric they’re connected to.

Storage architects have a choice to make: Fibre Channel or iSCSI?

ESG put it to the test. Taking three arrays, technicians assessed each protocol under differ-ent conditions to measure IOPS, throughput and latency. The difference was significant:

• AFAs ran up to 10x faster with Fibre Channel
• Fibre Channel also delivered 3-4x more IOPs than iSCSI
• On congested networks, there was no contest at all
