doubt about sfp smartoptics long wave

Hello guys,

i have a question on SFP smartoptics (lw), i have a fabric with 3 switch brocade, 2 switch in the same room, and one in other site.

one switch (room) is connected with SFP (lw) to switch in the other site with SFP (lw), recently the fabric is broken, and i have doubt with the SFP smartoptics (lw) when i disconnected the fiber in the port, in the SFP module i dont see the transmission light that comes from the switch, and the other switch neither, but when change the sfp module in the same port with a SFP short wave i see the light, so the smartoptics work like this? or the sfp is fail.

Port 23: id (lw) Vendor: SMARTOPTICS      Serial No: UGC217250000021  Speed: 2,4,8_Gbps

Thanks for your help

Re: doubt about sfp smartoptics long wave

run sfpshow [port] | grep Power for each port (Note: Case Sensitive).

You are looking at both RX and TX Power. If TX Power is low, the SFP or the port is faulty. If RX Power is low, it could be the SFP, but more than likely, the infrastructure between (Cable, interconnect points, WDM, etc...). If RX Power is low, run statsclear, wait a few minutes, then run porterrshow.

Post all results here.

Re: doubt about sfp smartoptics long wave

Port 23 is receiving no light, which would be expected for a U_Port.

What does the other side show?
